Morocco is a charming and exotic country just a few hours away from Europe. It has a great variety of landscapes from the Atlas Mountains to the Sahara Desert as well as the coast, a variety of human settlements such as the big imperial cities full of history, fortified kasbahs or small Berber mountain villages. This destination is the perfect mix of adventure, culture and scenery, without needing to travel too far or too many days. We offer tailormade trips that can take you to Berber villages and mountains of Morocco, combining trekking and cultural activities. You can complement our trekking trips in the mountains with others we offer in different places of Morocco such treks in gorges and kasbahs, camel safaris in the desert or visits to imperial cities.

We can offer you the following itineraries in the Atlas and Anti Atlas Mountains, from 2 days to 7 days of duration, and with different levels of difficulty. We give an overview of every possible itinerary; please, ask us if you would like to see the detailed itinerary day by day. If there is any other place that you wish to visit and is not included in any of our trips, check with us and we will try to include it in your itinerary.
2 DAY TRAVERSE TREK: IMLIL TO OUIRGANE
Travel from Marrakech to Imlil village, famous starting point of many treks in the Atlas Mountains. Once in Imlil you will meet your Berber team of guide, cook and muleteers, and then start your 2 day trek in the direction of Tizi Mzzik, pass then down into the Azzaden Valley for the overnight in a simple Berber village, prior to descent down the valley to get Ouirgane which is your final destination
3 DAY MT TOUBKAL ROUND TREK VIA AZZADEN VALLEY
Experience the climb of the highest peak in North Africa, Mount Toubkal (4167 m), where you will get a stunning view of the Atlas Mountains, and cross green valleys and Berber villages in the way. Our “express route” will lead you to the top exploring two main valleys of the Atlas: Imlil and Azzaden. Along the way you will pass Tizi N’Mzik (2450 m), the refuge at Azib n’Tansoult, the Ighouliden waterfalls and Aguelzim Mountain pass (3560 m).
4 DAY BERBER VILLAGES & TOUBKAL ASCENT
A perfect combination of 4 day trek on the western High Atlas starting by visiting several Berber villages in Ouirgane National Park and Azzaden Valley, then passing the Ighouliden waterfalls and hiking over Aguelzim Mountain pass (3560 m) to acclimatize with the altitude before reaching the summit of Mount Toubkal on day 4.
4 DAY ATLAS TRAVERSE TREK
Challenge yourself in a 4 day traverse of the western High Atlas, starting at the Ourika Valley gorges, visiting the beautiful and remote village of Amenzal and maybe see the monkeys colonies feeding on walnuts trees. Continue on day 3 from Amshishka to Tizi n Amshishka and finish camping next to the summer villages of Azib n Likemet (2500 m). On the last day you will ascend to the pass of Tizi n Likemt (3555 m) where you can enjoy amazing views of the Toubkal massif before going downhill to the village of Tachdirth.
4 DAY LODGE TO LODGE TREK
Start exploring the village of Oukaimeden in the Ourika Valley, then head over Tizi n’Eddi Mountain pass into the village of Tachdirt where you will spend the first night. The next day you will ascent to the Tizi-n-Tamatert Col before descending steeply into the Mizane Valley and the village of Imlil. Day 3 will take you to the spectacular red Valley of Azzaden where you will stay in the great kasbah trekking lodge, after visiting the highest waterfalls in the Atlas Mountains (100 m of high) in Tamsoulte. Last day will take you back to Imlil Valley over Tizi Oudid mountain pass (2000 m) and crossing Matat village after a wild juniper forest.
5 DAY TREK THROUGH VILLAGES AND VALLEYS PLUS TOUBKAL ASCENT
This is a stunning five day trek in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco. We trek through a variety of landscapes from lush valleys to barren rock. The route takes us through colourful Berber villages, over nice mountain passes slowly ascending to our highest point at 4167 m at the top of Mount Toubkal, North Africa’s highest mountain. After descending from Toubkal, we will head to Sidi Chamharouch, a pilgrimage place for muslims beside a waterfall.
6 DAY TOUBKAL CIRCUIT VIA LAKE IFNI
This itinerary involves early starts and strenuous trekking days, moving from camp to camp every day. We will visit the villages of Tachedirth, Azib Likemt and Amsouzert, and we will cross the mountain passes of Tizi n’Tamatert (2279 m), Tizi Likemt (3555 m), Tizi n’Ououraine (3120 m) and Tizi n’Ouanoums (3664 m), before reaching Mount Toubkal. As a highlight of the trip, we will camp one day next to the Lake Ifni, the only lake in the massif. Returning to base, we then descend to the villages of Sidi Chamharouch and Aremd, before following the Mizane River, along a well-forested trail to Imlil.
6 DAY TREK THROUGH VILLAGES AND VALLEYS PLUS TOUBKAL ASCENT
Explore the valleys of Imenane, Ousertek and Azzaden, the mountains of Okaimden (3700 m), Aguelzim (3560 m) and Toubkal (4167 m), the Ighouliden waterfalls, and the villages of Imeskar, Gliz, Tachdirth, Ait Aissa and Tizi oussm. Your trail will lead you through walnut groves, terraced fields and waterfalls. Stay in a Berber home in the villages of Gliz and in Tachdirth to get a deeper insight of their traditional culture.
6 DAY MGOUN MASSIF TRAVERSE
The Mgoun is located in the central part of the High Atlas, although it belongs to the province of Ouarzazate. The summit Mgoun, the second highest mountain in the Atlas, consists of a long ridge that approach or exceed the 4000 m over a distance of 10 km. We will cross Mgoun gorges and valley, and we will spend the night at some Berber villages like Ait Imi and Tiraninmie. On the last day we will drive through Kelaa Mgouna and Ouarzazate, with the possibility of visiting Ait Ben Haddou along the way.
6 DAY TREK IN ZAT VALLEY
During this trek we will encounter a great variety of natural formations, from lush river valleys to barren rockscapes, and we will visit some typical villages that hug steep rock faces. The trek starts at Ourika Valley where we will meet the expedition staff, then continue to Assif Mloulene. The next day we will cross the plateau of Yagour, the Azibs and some Berber villages, before a long descent to the Zat Valley. On the last day we will cross the Col of Tslit (2800 m) where we will have a nice view of the Ourika Valley.
6 DAY MT SIROUA CIRCULAR TREK
The trek starts at the village of Tamalakout and cross the desert plateau towards the summit of Siroua. Before reaching the summit, we will pass several villages such as Aït Tigga, Idoughagh and Aït Ighmour, and cross the Col of Tachancht (2500 m) and the massif of Irhiri (2300 m). On day 4 we will descend from the Siroua and we will finish day 5 near the village of Tamazikht (1730 m). We will spend most of the nights in bivouac.
7 DAY SIRWA MOUNTAINS TREK
The Sirwa Mountains are located in the Anti Atlas and they are quite different from the Atlas, as the area is generally barren with little shade. The objective of this trek is to climb the isolated volcanic peak of Sirwa (3305 m), which is not very difficult for inexperienced mountaineers. We will also climb other peaks such as Tegragra (2650m), Guiliz (2905 m) and Tizgui (2200 m). We will visit the Berber villages of Akhfamane, Atougha and Tinfat, among others, and we will stay in Berber houses a couple of nights.
The price per person per day is approximately €85 (2-6 people), €75 (7-10 people) and €65 (from above 11 people). Please, tell us which trip you would like to do and how many people are in your group, and we will give you an exact quote.
This price includes:
– Transfers between airport and Marrakech, and between Marrakech and the Atlas.
– Mountain guide, cook, mules to carry the luggage and mule guides.
– Accommodation for every night of the itinerary and camping equipment.
– The meals during the trek.
This price does not include:
– Flights: Everyone has to book their own flight.
– Insurance: Everybody is responsible for their own insurance and a copy of your insurance documents must be sent to us at least two weeks before the start of the trip.
– Accommodation and meals in Marrakech before tour starts and after it is finished (however we can include it in your quote if you wish).
All year round but it is recommended to do the treks from May to October. During the winter months (November-April) the treks are only available for experienced mountaineers as there will be snow and special equipment will be needed.
Berber villages and mountains of Morocco is a trip for private groups from 2 to a maximum of 20. The price of the trip will reduce with the number of members in the group. Furthermore, if you get more than 4 people to travel with you, you will benefit from important discounts; check Travel for free in our website for more information. For just one person it is better to join one of our travel groups because otherwise it would be too expensive as a private trip, unless you are thinking on booking a short trek.
